Sprouting – How Sprouting Alkalize Your Body

sproutsConsuming vegetables is a great way to maintain proper acid-alkaline balance in your body. But sometimes your ref runs out of veggies. And sometimes, too, you may get too lazy to go to the grocery store or market to but a fresh supply. So what’s likely to happen? Yes, you resort to fast food or canned goods.

But all these things obviously cause too much acidity, and you’re putting your health at risk. There are tons of health-related problems that are linked to excessive acidity, and the best way of eliminating this is by increasing the alkalinity of the body. That’s why it is really important that you carefully watch what goes into your mouth during meals.

Keeping a steady supply of vegetables in the kitchen is a great way to ensure you can have your daily dose of alkaline-rich diet. Or, better yet, why not grow your own supply of it? Sure you will drop the idea right away thinking that you will need a large garden space, expensive gardening tools and a green thumb. But the fact is you can grow your own veggies even without any gardening skills. And you can do so even without having a garden – you can even grow some in your kitchen! Sprouting is easy and cheap, and it will give you a steady supply of fresh alkaline-rich veggies.

Why Say “Yes” to Sprouts

Sprouts contain loads and loads of essential nutrients needed for their transition from being seeds to becoming plants. For instance, the nutritive contents of lettuce sprouts are more than just 100% that of fully grown lettuce. Plus, you can eat as much of these sprouts at any given time – so just imagine the vitamins, antioxidant and minerals you are consuming each time!

What’s more, sprouts are very alkaline. They contain natural enzymes, which help your body do away with devoting too much energy producing enzymes for acid-forming foods. They also are rich in fiber which helps speed up the flushing out of accumulated toxins in the body. Sprouts can be added to your vegetable salad, sandwiches, and almost any other dishes you are an expert at whipping up.

If you’re trying to lose weight, eating sprouts will help fill you up easily. Again, their richness in fiber help make you feel full and clean your digestive tract so you get a flatter belly. And all those vitamins and minerals will ensure that your body gets a steady supply of essential nutrients, even if you cut back on any other food sources during your dieting,

Growing Your Own Sprouts

It’s relatively easy to provide yourself with your own supply of sprouts. Even if you have the most basic of gardening skills, you can still grow your own sprouts. You even need not concern yourself about which gardening tools to buy. And there’s no need to worry about having a garden space if you live in a high-rise condominium place or elsewhere similar – you can grow them right in your kitchen.

All you need is a well-lit spot, but not necessarily one where there’s direct sunlight. You can easily purchase sprouters at any gardening supplies stores, or online. You can choose between a sprouting jar and tray, depending on the amount or sprouts you wish to grow. You may also choose to have an automatic sprouter if you want to go really serious about being a sprouter!

In a matter of days, you can have your own supply of fresh sprouts. Most seeds take only 4-6 days to germinate, so you can easily take out those sprouts from their sprouters, clean them up and instantly make them part of your diet. And there are plenty of options when it comes to sprouts to grow. You can go for mung beans, flax, cabbage, lentil, broccoli, radish, alfalfa, or just about any other vegetable seed you can think of!

Summing Up Sprouting

Of course you can always purchase sprouts at your local market or grocery store. However, they cannot get any fresher than those which you grow and harvest right inside your kitchen! And you know that no pesticides or any other chemicals were used – so the sprouts you grow yourself are guaranteed organic.

Sprouts go well with anything at anytime. You can try growing several different sprouts to be familiar with a variety of flavors and tastes. Then you can think of healthy dishes where a particular sprout can go very well with. They’re great at maintaining a healthy acid-alkaline level of your body. With sprouts within your reach, your likelihood of getting health problems related to excessive acidity is kept at bay. You can grow your own sprouts with little effort and no special gardening skills needed.

I agree. Sprouting is a great way to add enzymes to your diet. I just recently started growing my own and add sprouts to all my foods. They are great on salads. Love the broccoli sprouts
